My Mission? Empower. Inspire. Encourage.
Danae Travels – yep, that’s me! Born in the USA but guess what? I didn’t travel outside of the country until age 21. Interesting right? Well, I want to empower, inspire, and encourage people that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. Curious as to why I never left the country? I did not have the financial means to do so. It seemed like such an unattainable feat at the time. As an adolescent, my parents did not have the financial means to support what we thought had to be lavish international trips (your trips don’t have to be lavish to be enjoyable). During summers as a kid, we traveled within the U.S. to various cities, states, and beautiful landmarks. My mom was a single mother, and she did her best to make sure that we visited museums around the country and learned about the history of our nation, as well as our own family. We would watch movies and documentaries, check out library books and explore the world wide web (once it came about). This inspired us to visit the places we had once read about and had envisioned. I was beyond grateful for those experiences, which shaped my life, but my perspective on travel and the larger world still had limitations. I mean, I didn’t even own a passport, let alone a visa. To be completely transparent, I had no idea what a visa was at that point in my life.
Empower. Inspire. Encourage. Those three words are a reminder of what led me to put all of my energy into my dreams. All I dreamed about was travel. I wanted to experience more life. I had to find a way to fund my dreams. A lot of us are in this position where we have dreams, but we don’t have our finances in order. Ahhhh, tell me about it. The good news is that we can set small goals to reach our larger goals. Before you know it, you’ll be doing that thing you always dreamed of. That’s what happened for me. I made it a mission to figure out a way to travel the world even though I didn’t have the money to do so. While in college I applied for a travel abroad program, where I would study one semester in Rome, Italy. It was a complete dream that ended up becoming the best experience of my life! It was the first time I left the country. I was actually able to study Italian Culture and Institutions while seeing what I read in person, tasting the delicious food, meeting new Italian friends, and exploring the country…all for my college education! It was great. Once I had that experience, there was no stopping me. I later applied for a Journalism program where I was 1 of 20 students selected across the US to visit Israel and analyze the media and it’s perception in the U.S. It required a lot of writing and meeting with political figures, but guess what? The entire trip was paid for on my behalf! What a blessing. I’m sharing this to show you that there are ways in which you can fuel your passion and make those dreams a reality.
My mission is to Empower, Inspire and Encourage women to live life with intention and purpose. My goal is to provide 100,000 women with travel guidance and resources to help them step into their full potential and bring out the greatness that the world is ready to see.
Before I go, I thought it’d be helpful to share a little bit about my educational and professional background. I am a UC Davis Alum with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and an MBA degree with a concentration in Marketing from Nova Southeastern University. I have a heart for people and it’s my life goal to help others by using the talents and resources I have been given. I am a motivator, leader, and self starter, eager to take on the challenges life throws my way. If I can help someone unleash their full potential and put a smile on their face, I’m happy.
